There are 180 million people in the country, there is no reason to fear, BGB captain

There are 180 million people in the country, there is no reason to fear, BGB captain

BGB’s Mahananda Battalion (59 BGB) commander Lt. Col. Golam Kibria told local residents, “If I am standing at the zero line as the CEO, you don’t need to go there. I am enough to handle the BSF.”

He also said, “When necessary, I will call you. I will ask the villagers to bring them. But if I don’t call, don’t crowd the border and don’t create obstacles in our work.”

He said these things at a view-sharing meeting with locals at the Bakhorali Government Primary School ground in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj on Thursday (January 23) afternoon.

Lt. Col. Golam Kibria said, “We have weapons, training and sufficient morale. We have 18 crore people behind us, so there is no reason to fear. When the BGB is standing at the zero line, the security of the border will be completely assured. You will find the BGB by your side in any situation.”

He further said, “The most Bangladeshis enter India by crossing the zero line in the border area. During my two years of duty, I have never seen an Indian farmer enter Bangladesh by crossing the zero line. Indian smugglers also do not enter Bangladesh, and you have not seen this either.”

Referring to the current situation in Chapainawabganj, he said, “The district is flooded with Indian phensedyl and stolen mobile phones. So, let us promise—we will not consume or use drugs, and we will not buy or use stolen Indian mobile phones. First, we have to fix ourselves.”

Lt. Colonel Golam Kibria said, “You went to the border to bring a case of Phensedyl from India for 500 taka. Then if you are injured or killed by BSF firing, then who is the victim? Will you give your life for 500 taka? If you have to give your life, then give it for the sovereignty of the country. And if you have to get injured, then do it to protect the country. Therefore, we will not bring Indian drugs and smuggled goods and we will prevent those who do.”

Expressing gratitude to the villagers, he said, “Finally, I would like to thank the residents of Chouka and Kiranganj villages. You have always been by the side of the BGB. Not only the people of Shibganj, but 18 crore people of the entire country are by our side.”

Shibganj Upazila Executive Officer Azhar Ali, Shibganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Kibria, and former Chairman of Shahbazpur Union Tozammel Haque also spoke at the meeting.
