Selina Akhter accused of teaching at two schools while concealing information

Selina Akhter accused of teaching at two schools while concealing information

In Rajbari, a teacher named Selina Akhter has been accused of hiding information and teaching in two private higher secondary educational institutions in violation of the MPO policy.

Selina Akhter joined Majbari High School in Baliakandi Upazila of Rajbari district on November 1, 2015 as an assistant teacher (Bangla) and is currently teaching there. Her MPO code is 3301101301 and index number N1133381.

However, the investigation revealed that Selina Akhter violated the MPO policy and hid information and joined Baliakandi Pilot High School as an assistant teacher (Bangla) on February 1, 2022. After joining there, she applied for MPO, as a result of which her name was added to the MPO sheet of Baliakandi Pilot High School.

However, after teaching at Baliakandi Pilot High School for just 17 days (February 1 to February 17, 2022), she again ignored the rules and returned to Majbari High School without submitting any resignation letter.

It has been alleged that by violating the rules and concealing information, she tried to avail MPO benefits by working in two institutions at the same time.

Headmaster Chhamir Uddin said that she rejoined Majbari High School by submitting a medical certificate on the pretext of illness for the 17 days she was absent from Majbari High School.

However, some assistant teachers of Majbari High School (who did not want to be named) alleged that Selina Akhter had voluntarily resigned from Majbari High School before joining Baliakandi Pilot High School. But as she felt that MPO enrollment there was uncertain, she rejoined Majbari High School unethically through financial transactions with the president of the managing committee and the headmaster. This is a clear violation of state and government policies and amounts to fraud.

When contacted, Selina Akhter refused to give a statement and suggested that she speak in person. However, she did not agree to give a statement even when she went to a person-to-person meeting. Immediately after this, her husband Mehedi Hasan collected the reporter’s phone number and threatened to abuse and kill her. He also warned that if she published the report on this matter, she would be threatened with false cases.

Baliakandi Pilot High School Principal Qutubuddin Molla said that Selina Akhter joined the school as an assistant teacher through the NTRC recruitment. However, she broke the rules and left the school after 17 days without any notice or resignation letter and returned to her former workplace. Due to violation of the MPO policy, the teachers’ council decided to send a letter to the MPO Department to reduce her MPO.

Majbari High School Principal Chhamir Uddin said that Selina Akhter left the school without submitting any resignation letter. In response to the show cause notice, she submitted a medical certificate citing illness. However, at that time he was teaching at Baliakandi Pilot High School.

Baliakandi Secondary Education Officer Parmis Sultana said that she was not aware of the fact that the same person was registered as an MPO in two institutions. The higher authorities will be informed once the necessary documents are received.

District Secondary Education Officer Md. Habibur Rahman said that the truth of such allegations should be verified.
