“We are ready for any kind of struggle to protect democracy. If the Awami League comes back to power, then the BNP leaders will have to spend the night in paddy fields and jute fields, they will not be able to live in peace,” said Shahidul Islam Babul, general secretary of the BNP’s central Krishak Dal.
He said these things as the chief guest at a farmers’ rally organized by the Fulsuti Union Krishak Dal of Nagarkanda Upazila of Faridpur on Friday (January 24) afternoon.
At that time, he also said, “Those who are trying to strengthen the party by taking the Awami League as a party should not do that. Do not oppress the people of their own party. Hasina has indeed fallen on the 5th, but they are still conspiring in various ways. You have to be careful about that.”
Addressing the leaders and activists, he said, “If it is necessary to take to the streets again to exercise the right to vote, we are ready to do that.” He mentioned, “We have not forgotten the misrule of the last 16 years, we have spoken to Hasina eye to eye, we have endured many atrocities, but we have not accepted her rule.”
The rally, chaired by Mohiuddin Rana, president of the Fulsuti Union Krishak Dal, and moderated by Giasuddin, member of Dhaka Metropolitan North, was attended by Upazila BNP president Advocate Liaquat Ali Bulu, former organizing secretary Rafiquzzaman Anu, municipal BNP president Asaduzzaman Asad, Nagarkanda Upazila Krishak Dal president Bilal Hossain Molla, general secretary Jahangir Hossain Yad, joint general secretary Raju Ahmed, and Dhaka Metropolitan North Krishak Dal convener Mamunur Rashid Mamun, among others.
