On paper, the Sylhet Strikers’ team was somewhat weak from the beginning. Now, injuries have made it even harder for them to take the field! The team’s captain Ariful Haque lamented, saying all the injuries seemed to have targeted them.
Although Sylhet’s playing eleven includes three regular wicketkeeper-batsmen, none of them are fit. They are all suffering from injuries, forcing irregular player Ronny Talukdar to take on wicketkeeping duties. Additionally, foreign all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall had to return home early due to an injury.
Ariful Haque said, “We have to say we are unlucky. Rahkeem Cornwall was supposed to play the whole season, but he got injured and had to leave. Now, it seems like everyone in the team is somehow injured. We have no backup players. We have to play with a broken team.”
He added, “Even though we have four wicketkeepers in the team, Ronny has to do the wicketkeeping because Zakir Ali Anik has a back problem, Zakir has a knee injury, and Manjir has a finger injury. No one else can do the wicketkeeping. In such a situation, Ronny has to take up the wicketkeeping duty.”
One of the team’s best pacers, Tanzim Sakib, is also out due to injury. Ariful said, “Sakib has a knee injury, and we didn’t have him in Chattogram. As a result, our bowling strength has also decreased. Today, we planned to play Nahid, but he also has a back problem. It seems everything is happening to our team all at once. Now, it’s becoming difficult to field even eleven players.”
