The price of gold has been increased again in the country’s market. The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has increased the price of a 22-carat bhori gold by Tk 2,099 to Tk 1,44,890, which has reached the highest price in the country’s history. This price will be effective from February 2.
BAJUS said that the price of gold in the global market has increased by a record amount, which has affected the Bangladesh market. Due to this increase, the new price of gold has been fixed. The price of 21-carat bhori gold will be Tk 1,38,300, 18-carat will be Tk 1,18,541 and the price of traditional gold will be Tk 97,476.
The notification also mentioned that the government’s prescribed 5 percent VAT and the minimum wage prescribed by BAJUS of 6 percent will have to be added to the selling price of gold. However, the wages may vary according to the design and quality of the jewelry.
Earlier, the price of gold was increased by Tk 1,365 on January 29, and the price of gold has been adjusted 4 times this year. In 2024, the price of gold in the domestic market was adjusted 62 times, of which the price increased 35 times. However, the price of silver remained unchanged.
