In the Sharshadi area of Feni Sadar, two families were attacked, vandalized and stabbed over the spread of drugs. According to locals, the incident took place on Thursday morning (January 23). However, it is known that the victim of the attack was an expatriate family.
After visiting the scene, it was learned that both Abul Khair and Abul Hashem of Meher Ali’s house in Sharshadi unit are involved in the drug trade. However, Abul Hashem’s son, Arif, a Saudi expatriate, said that his father used to sell drugs but has now withdrawn from the business. On the other hand, Abul Khair regularly sells Yaba and Phencidyl. When he protested Khair’s drug trade, he threatened Arif.
When they got into a fight, Khair, along with local Russell, Kashem and Nahid, attacked Arif’s house. They smashed the walls of the house, broke furniture, and looted cash and gold.
After the scuffle, Khair along with locals Russell, Kashem and Nahid ransacked Arif’s house. They smashed the roof of the house, vandalised furniture and looted cash and gold.
After this incident, Arif’s father Abul Hossain filed a case against 13 people in the Feni Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court. On the other hand, Khair also filed a counter-case against Arif and his family because he was stabbed. Arif has stab wounds on his stomach and Abul Khair has stab wounds on his hands.
Several leaders of the local union BNP and Jubo Dal said that both families are involved in drugs and are deviant from society. Both sell drugs, due to which children and teenagers are getting addicted to drugs. If the police take appropriate action, the society can be drug-free.
On the other hand, Abul Khair claimed that he was threatened when he saw some people coming to buy drugs from Hasem and later Hasem’s son stabbed him.
Feni Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Morm Shing Tripura said that the complaints of the two have been accepted. The investigation officer of the case will take a decision after the meeting today.
