BSF opens fire on Bangladeshi at border

A Bangladeshi was injured in BSF firing at the Telkupi border in Chapainawabganj. The injured person’s name is Habil, who is a resident of Telkupi Namopara village in Shahabajpur union of Shibganj upazila.

Mohd. Kased Ali, a member of Ward No. 7 of Shahabajpur union, confirmed the incident around 11 am on Saturday (January 25). Habil was working in the field in the morning when the BSF opened fire on him. Habil, who was seriously injured, was rescued and sent to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital, later referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Kased Ali said that Habil is not involved in any kind of smuggling or illegal activities, he is a very good boy. Lt. Col. Golam Kibria, commander of Mahananda Battalion (59 BGB), said that although the BSF fired shots, it has not yet been confirmed whether he was injured.
