Additional police have been deployed at the Nilkhet intersection in the capital to control the situation after a clash between students of Dhaka University (DU) and seven affiliated colleges.
Police sources said that 7 platoons of police have been deployed at Nilkhet since Monday (January 27) morning and 5 platoons of police have been kept in reserve.
In addition, all exams and classes for Monday (January 27) have been postponed after a clash with students of seven colleges affiliated to Dhaka University, as well as all final exams of the seven colleges.
Incidentally, more than 300 students from seven colleges, protesting for five points, blocked the Science Lab intersection for about four and a half hours yesterday and took out a procession towards Dhaka University at around 10:30 pm. They took up positions in front of the Mukti and Ganatra Toran of Dhaka University at Nilkhet intersection. At one point, several hundred students came out of various halls of Dhaka University and chased them. Later, students from seven colleges united and chased Dhaka University students, resulting in a clash between the two and at least 40 students were injured.
Students from seven colleges alleged that when they approached the DU Pro-VC (Education) about the problems of seven colleges and the reduction in the number of admission seats, he misbehaved and threw them out of the room, saying that he did not know anything about seven colleges.
They further alleged that despite receiving the memorandum 21 days ago, he did not read it and behaved aggressively as he did not know the students of seven colleges, which led to the student movement.
