As winter approaches, the supply of vegetables in the market has increased, and the presence of new fresh vegetables has also reduced prices. However, there has been no new increase in prices in the egg, fish, and meat markets. On the other hand, the rice market continues to be uneasy. This picture was seen after visiting various markets in the capital on Friday (January 24).
According to sellers, rice prices have been high for the past few months. Despite various initiatives such as the full Aman season, reduction in duty and import, no fruitful results are being obtained. The prices of different types of rice have increased by 5-6 taka depending on the quality.
In the market, per kg Nazirshail is being sold at 80-90 taka, Miniket at 85-90 taka, BR-28 rice at 60-65 taka, coarse rice (Guti Swarna) at 55-58 taka, old Atash at 65 taka, Pajama at 60 taka, Kataribhog at 85 taka, Basmati at 94-98 taka, Polao rice at 120-125 taka and Aman rice at 70 taka. Consumers have expressed their anger over the high price of rice.
Currently, no rice is available in the market below 60 taka.
The price of potato was uncomfortable for the last few months, but now it has reached between 20-25 taka. Onions are being sold at 40-50 taka. In addition, brinjal is being sold at 40-50 taka per kg, beans at 30-50 taka, raw papaya at 25-30 taka, cucumber at 25-30 taka, bitter gourd at 50-60 taka, radish at 15-20 taka, beetroot at 50-60 taka, carrot at 40-45 taka and sweet pumpkin at 30 taka. Flowers and cabbage are available at 15-20 taka per piece and gourd at 30-50 taka.
The prices of bitter gourd, patal, jhinga and dhundal are slightly higher, being sold at 60-80 taka per kg. In addition, chichinga is being sold at 50-60 taka, carrot at 40-60 taka and tomato at 40-60 taka. Various vegetables including red leafy vegetables, spinach, kale and pumpkin are being sold at 10-15 taka.
The prices of chicken and beef remain unchanged compared to last week. Golden chicken is being sold at 320-340 taka per kg. Broiler chicken is available at 200-210 taka, domestic chicken at 650-700 taka, white layer at 250 taka and red layer at 300 taka.
Beef is currently being sold at 750-780 taka per kg. In addition, meat without liver and bones is being sold separately at different prices. Mutton meat is being sold at 1050-1200 taka per kg and goat meat at 950-1000 taka.
Fish prices are also high. Depending on the size, pabda fish is being sold at 350-400 taka, tilapia at 200 taka, small rui at 250-300 taka, rui weighing 4 to 5 kg at 400-450 taka, tengra at 650 taka, cultivated horn at 450 taka and pangash at 180-200 taka.
Imported lentils are being sold in the market at Tk 105-110 per kg, domestically grown chickpeas at Tk 130-135, moong dal at Tk 165-170, and chickpeas at Tk 125-130.
